Happy Independence Day!

John Adams, the 2^nd President, thought July 2^nd would be celebrated as our independence day as that was the day the Continental Congress adopted an independence resolution. It became July 4^th as the final draft was approved but wasn’t signed until August 10^th. Still, John Adams’ prediction of the day being “celebrated with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other...” was correct.

For most years, the latter 2 mentions are the most common. Thankfully, the only the bonfires to be found are found in BBQ grills but there are several “Illuminations” ie. fireworks to be found in our area. Both Knights Action Park and the Lucky Horseshoes have fireworks on the 4^th, Chatham is hosting theirs on the 4^th as well and “Rock the Dock” on July 5^th. I hope you all have a happy and safe 4^th of July and be safe this following weekend.
