Happy Independence Day!
Happy Independence Day!
John Adams, the 2nd President, thought July 2nd would be celebrated as our independence day as that was the day the Continental Congress adopted an independence resolution. It became July 4th as the final draft was approved but wasn’t signed until August 10th. Still, John Adams’ prediction of the day being “celebrated with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other...” was correct.
For most years, the latter 2 mentions are the most common. Thankfully, the only the bonfires to be found are found in BBQ grills but there are several “Illuminations” ie. fireworks to be found in our area. Both Knights Action Park and the Lucky Horseshoes have fireworks on the 4th, Chatham is hosting theirs on the 4th as well and “Rock the Dock” on July 5th. I hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July and be safe this following weekend.
